Understanding the day count
Select a start date and an end date to measure the number of calendar days between them. The start date is the baseline: two identical dates give zero days, and consecutive dates give one day. Weekends and holidays remain part of the result.
For example, March 1 to March 8, 2026 is 7 days, or one complete week. February 28 to March 1 is one day in 2026 but two days in the leap year 2028. This makes a calendar-based count more useful than assuming every year has exactly 365 days.
For bookings, check-in and checkout normally describe elapsed nights; an inclusive attendance list may count both dates instead. Add one day only if the rules of your task require that convention. Converted hours and minutes represent whole days of fixed length; they are not an elapsed-time calculation across time zones or daylight-saving transitions. Use the date calculator if you need a years-and-months breakdown.
